Circus imagery has long been a source of creative inspiration. Here are some ideas we particularly like.

This softie version of the circus side show bearded lady is by contemori, an Italian maker of handmade toys. More here and here.

For homegrown circus threads check out the carnival collection by heavenly creatures. The range includes fun multi stripe t's, quirky tu-tu's, leggings and embellished t shirts for girls and boys. Heidi & Kelly will be at our next event, 5-7 August.

I have a thing for little toy animals, especially when they are old and metal and have probably entertained lots of little hands at one time or another. I wouldn't be parting with it myself! Available here.

This book is the French adaptation of The Big Book of the Real Circus written by Benjamin Brewster. It was first published in 1951. This edition was published in 1969 by Gauthier-Languereau in Paris. It contains images of the real people behind the scenes in circus life. Decorating idea - framing pages from old picture books like this in a contemporary & inexpensive frame (think ikea!) looks fabulous in a child's bedroom and is completely unique. A themed collection in mismatched frames creates an even greater impression. These are book covers but it shows the same idea (image via bloesem kids).
