Penny Butterworth is a Sydney based ceramicist who creates desirable pieces of wearable art. She has always been fascinated with the patterns and texture in life and art and expresses this through her very tactile sculptured pieces that feel and look beautiful to wear.
The black and white ceramics on black cord or velvet are simple, unique, elegant and understated. Each circle in 'Circles' is hand formed from clay and was created as "(Penny) was experimenting with different sized and shaped discs and suddenly realised how good they all looked together."
Each version of 'circles' is uniquely and carefully constructed in an asymmetric fashion that balances itself out as it takes shape. It is a stunning piece, especially worn long against black.
